Assorted News

Well, I suppose the biggest news of this week is that I had a second interview for that one job. I think it went very well overall. It involved a few more in-depth questions and a role-play. That was the hardest part, but I think I did just fine considering I am not a social work major. I find out tomorrow how it went. I feel like I’m at least among the top runners. What I don’t like about the whole thing is that there are several other applicants. I’ll let you know. In other news, we’ve been feeling a little more pressure to find a new place to live. The landlady called on Thursday asking what our plans are and gave us another week to decide whether or not we are going to renew our contract. Again, we like our place, but really want a washer and dryer and a dishwasher (all this is in an earlier post). So we got looking around some more and saw some places that we still didn’t really like. The more we looked, the more we liked our place now. That is, until Friday. I saw a listing online much like the others, but when we went to see it, it was exactly the kind of place we wanted. Washer and dryer in a separate room (not in the kitchen or bathroom), newly renovated, lots of space, etc. The only reason we did not sign up right then and there is that it is pushing our price range just a little. Well, and we also love our current ward. We looked at a couple of other places and to make a long story short, we are waiting to hear about some possible vacancies elsewhere before deciding. We will probably decide Monday. One thing of which I’m quite proud is that, on Tuesday this week, Jesse and I went swimming at BYU’s pool and I decided I was going to learn how to dive finally. I know – I’m 25 for crying out loud! That’s why I was so sick of not knowing how. So I did it after some coaxing: first off the side of the deep end, and then later off the diving board. I was feeling very adventurous and so I tried it off of the high-dive at the end of the night after standing there for a good 10 minutes looking down into the blue abyss. I survived, but with less-than-encouraging results. However, I was determined to get it right the next time. So on Saturday, Kira came with Jesse and me and we all swam and I got to the point where I was no longer afraid of the high-dive and diving off of it. Next time, the 15-foot platform! Not much new with Kira’s job. The weather has been beautiful here in Provo and we’re trying to enjoy it while we can. I won’t talk about the cougars game in the NCAA tournament lest I say things I will surely regret and this entry will never end. I’m going to try to find more interesting pictures to post along with all my blabbing, so stay tuned. Fascinating news to come in the near future. -Eli
