Casualties of the Week

The little princess has had a very rough week. She was getting pretty sick with a cough, runny nose, and slight fever the first few days, and then the day it was in full swing another tragedy befell her. She got her left hand pinched in the car door as she was heading into the grocery store. It swelled up pretty badly and is bruised and puffy now, but the doctor said nothing was broken. All things considered, she’s been a very good sport about the whole thing. She has kept a pretty good attitude most of the time, and the only real difficulty for us has been trying to figure out how to relieve her cough at night so that the poor dear can sleep. She woke up Thursday night miserable, probably from the throbbing hand, but went back down with a little pain medication, hugs, kisses, and rocking (that combo works for just about any ailment). Friday night, she slept until about 10pm, then kept hacking like a chain smoker for the next couple of hours. She wasn’t whiny or clingy, but we felt so bad that she couldn’t sleep that we kept going in trying to help. She finally did pass out for another 6 hours or so, and last night slept 11 straight, so we think we’re on the mend.

Kira was also under the weather this week, which made it more difficult with her many obligations and commitments. I haven’t felt sick (yet), and have been trying to balance all I’ve got going on as well. On the positive side of the week, I had a phone interview with one of the Ph.D. programs to which I applied! I think it went pretty well. I’ll let you know!
